I've just got a new computer and Sébastien Vonier kindly agreed to show me the workings of Mac OSX. I was round at his studio a moment ago. He is working on some intriguing objects set against the grid of urban plans. A cross between neo-minimalist sculpture and design (the drawing of a bookshelf, for example). He is delighted to be taking part in Just a Walk but unsure about his place and role, about his position with regard to Jocelyn's project, about the concrete nature of his contribution and his way of being present on the site. I've been on the site. It's more a presentation of things than a crossroads for exchange. I enjoyed watching the short videos that Marcel has made specially. In Nantes, he filmed people walking across a bridge seen from down below. As often with him, each piece constitutes an absolute singularity, but also a paradigm of the whole body of work: the passages and interfaces, the meeting points. It fits exactly with Jocelyn's idea of Just a Walk . It's… just a walk. Also on the site, I read Charlotte Blin's enlightening interviews with the artists. And it occurs to me that the notes I am taking in the form of a diary could help to bind these diverse elements, the volatility of the project. An Ariadne's thread. I also encouraged Jocelyn to beef up the site We're moving ahead.
